I was really touched by the majority of your initial post. It sounds like you have been through a lot. I guess I was, also, offended by your statement of "get a life". My kids are my life. I can talk about other things, but most of the things in my life revolve around my kids. I just don't understand why you would intentionally try to be mean to others who have done nothing to you? To prove a point? Your point is much better stated without the "get a life" statement. However, you have made me think about how I state things to others. Maybe I have hurt others by what I say, but there has never been any malice behind it. Sometimes I don't know what to say when someone says they have no kids. I makes me feel bad. Maybe I've jokingly remarked "You can have my kids" to make the situation less uncomfortable for the both of us. Unfortunately, this was said not realizing it was hurtful. I don't think that people who ask if you have kids are pushy if they make a comment like that, sometimes they simply do not know what to say.
SO think about how you feel (when someone says something hurtful to you) when you make hurtful comments simply because someone else thinks that childless people aren't good teachers. I think that Shelli was absolutely wrong, yet you decided to insult me anyway.
