I teach kindergarten too and my children are so excited, chatty and loud. I say go with the flow and let them talk with direction. Have class discussions about presents, weather, whatever. Have them spend 5 to 10 minutes talking with a partner. Let them get it out of their system. Remember - vacation is around the corner. Then try to teach some quiet time. Read a slow moving story and have them lay on the floor and listen quietly. Right now children are so overstimulated, not getting enough sleep and crazy!!! Good luck.
