I totally agree with you. It is a shame that the school is enforcing this reward. It should be on a class by class basis. Besides saying something to your principal as to changing this reward system, I would discuss with your students other possible rewards for good behavior. Rewards such as: 1st in line, star for the day, extra free time in class, Fun Friday, etc... Let the students come up with these rewards, that are not candy and that are good for them. It might make the reward even better since they came up with it on their own!
