Even if you have to buy your own paper. Have lessons that students can cut out and color already printed out. Such as letter worksheets, pattern worksheets and numbers. What you need is a routine that you do daily. Teach the students routine so they know where to go and not have to ask you what next. Buy an egg timer. Teach students independent learning centers so you can have a break or observe students for particular learning and behavior problems. These learning centers can be found in a couple scholastic books I found very useful. Also have the schedule up on the board in colorful drawings. Teach students the calendar and days of the week and all that in the morning which can take 30 minutes. Do sentence strips with magnets and teach songs. Even if you have to buy a tape and learn them first. These can be about the calendar, days of the week, family, animals etc. You can also do Weekend news where they draw a picture and write a sentence of what they did on the weekend. You keep these and make a book for them for the end of the year. You proabably do most of these things. But the most important is routine and the learning centers so you can have a break. Teaching independence is the hardest but also a worthwhile goal. Also have chores for the students like clearning up under their desks, watering plants or feeding goldfich. and give them a reward which can be more learning center time. Good Luck take a deep breath and try not to give up just yet. Once you set the routine in motion it will lesson the craziness and get those worksheets
