I use an oven timer. I love it. I can give groups time. The rule is when the buzzer goes off they must be silent and listen for directions. Practice it. If someone talks let the annoying buzzer continue and look at the talkers. Then say. Let's try that again. Set it for one second and then praise those amazingly smart kids.Also, just say. "John is ready...Karen is ready...Bob is ready...Juan is ready. Even my sixth graders still want to hear their names.
