I was having the same problem with my first graders. I decided to do some research on new spelling game ideas. I found many games that I am going to start doing next week on the following website: http://teachers.net/lessons/posts516.htmlI hope this helps you out. I am anxious to implement these new game ideas into my classroom. I don't want my kids to just memorize the words, so hopefully with playing these spelling games they will "learn" the words.
