The last year we had a Christmas Concert I taught the "This Little Light of Mine" using a recording. They each held a "candle" made from a toilet paper tube, into which I stuck a white bulb attached to a Christmas light string. They stood lined up in the dark singing the first 2 lines very quietly, then I plugged in the bulbs and they "blasted" the rest of the song. The parents were delighted. At Easter break I demonstrated a slide show on the overhead about Spring where each child had created their own picture with Kid Pix, typed a sentence, chose the music and the transition. No singing involved.
