    My classes have really liked some newer books that I discovered on the annual KC3 list (a list of books nominated each year in Kansas City for reading and voting upon by 3rd graders):
    Amber Brown is Not A Crayon (Danziger?)
    My Dog, Cat (Marty Crisp)
    I also try to read each year Bunnicula (Howe), The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (Robinson), Aunt Clara Brown: Official Pioneer (Lowery) for Black History Month, Sideways Tales from Wayside School (Sachar) towards the end of the year. I'm also eager to do the first Lemony Snicket book before the movie premieres.
