    My Own Copier Horror

    We have TWO copiers in the building that we're allowed to use. We were at one time allowed to use the one in the office, but since it's been restructured, it isn't logical for us to be using it, as it is now in a high traffic spot. Our special education team has a copier that supposedly came out of their funding, but b/c it's in the Kindergarten wing, K teachers are allowed to use it as well. The copier we can use is upstairs. It breaks a lot. It jams, getting left that way. People put it on weird settings, forget to reset, and walk away, leaving it for the next person to figure out. Because we're not allowed to use the sped copier or the office copier, envision the amount of people trying to use the copier we CAN use? Well, I often break rules that I think are stupid, if I have a logical reason for doing so, and the copier rule is one of them. If there are 10 people waiting for the copier, and NO ONE is at the SPED copier, I should be able to use it, especially if K can use it. K is also allowed to use "our" copier by the way.And SPED isn't allowed to use "our" copier, but that means some of the sped people have to walk across the entire length of the school to go the copier they can use. So last week and the week before, there were instances where the copier I can use was jammed or broken, and I had things to copy. I went to SPED and what do you know, NO ONE was standing there, no one was even in sight. I used it. Naughty me. I proceeded to get a nasty note left to me for me to find the next time I used the machine, telling me this wasn't my machine and I am not to be using it. They left me a nasty note on something I had left there as well!!!!! This entire scenario makes me SOOOOOO mad. However, our principal has said in the case of a "true emergency" such as the thing being broken or jammed beyond a lay-person's help, I can use the SPED copier. I used if the other day and saw one of the SPED people just about foaming at the mouth. I just don't understand the attitudes of some people. Can't we all just get along at the paper copier?
