RE: Teaching Reading in 1st Grade

I recommend centers and small group instruction for reading. The best book to get is Guided Reading by Fountas and Pinnell. Does your school use a basal or guided reading books to teach? There is a difference. Let me know what your school uses and I can better help you. Don't stress too much the first year because everything is new and you will get the hang of it.
