Teaching doesn't want me either. I live in a small town in the East and the few elementary positions that become available are promised to "others". How do you get something promised to you anyway? I was a tutor, subbed - long-term and day to day...have paid my dues for three years now. Enough! But I guess it's not my turn. So, the choice has been made for me too because I have a family to support. I can't wait any longer. I feel bad for the children who will never know us, caring, motivated teachers who aren't allowed "in." They are the ones who are really being wronged, because who else would allow themselves to be shoved around like this, but those who really love teaching and love children? But we must survive, and alas, must move on to a place that treats us with the respect we've worked so hard to achieve.
