    Folders and Notebooks

Personally, as far as notebooks are concerned, I like to use a spiral bound one subject notebook for all math work and notes. That is really the only 'notebook' I have.

I do have a few journals (just the ones the school provides, basic composition journals) for: Poem of the Week, SSW (sustained silent writing), Grammar and Craft writing notes (same journal) and Math Journal.

For folders, I have a 'desk folder' with all of their extra paper (final and rough draft), math, character counts, language arts (with all of the run-offs, forms, etc that they will need for the entire unit) music, and social studies/science. They also have a homework folder and a 'school-to-home communication' folder. The desk, homework and S-T-H Comm folders are the kind you buy at Staples. The others are just construction paper.

I hope that gives you some idea of a few of the things you will need to start off the year. If you want/need more ideas, I would be happy to help! (This was already long enough!!)
