In a lot of districts they have to legally post positions and do interviews even if they already have someone in mind for the position. Last year I had a 1 year contract so I got a layoff notice. When my position opened up again, I still had to interview again even though I was interviewing in the same school for the same position I had! I got my job back, but I still think it was ridiculous I had to interview...especially since I was interviewing with people who were my friends! Anyway, don't get discouraged. It may just be a legality that they have to do. I'd definitely ask my principal though!
