Busy times for subs

our principal went to a meeting at the district and was told that the sub desk was running out of subs at the busy times, like when flu season hits, and the district suggested he let teachers be "aware" of this. One of the other teachers said, "so the district would like us to stagger our illnesses?" I thought it was pretty funny!I guess my point is that there are busy times in every district and slow times but if it drags on, I would call in and ask what is going on, in a nice way. That way they know you are still keen to work. Good luck!
