Yes! Mine are very social too. They won't stop talking. Mine are also not as independent at working on their own as I'd like them to be. It is a nice grade level because they are at an age where they have some world experiences (past class trips, family outings, involved in extra curricular activities) The experiences help a lot in expressing their writing. They are really trying to read to learn. I did my student teaching and college experiences with 1st grade. There we learned to read and write. Both settings were wonderful. I liked the artsy/cutesy part of first grade of which I can't get away with much of in 3rd grade.
