I found a little bit of a lull with excitement with regards to getting homework done and playing homeworkopoly. I started out the year giving a candy to each student that played. Well, one day I made them my favourite cookie recipe and they were wowed. It was really quite funny. So now when I notice students dropping off and not doing it I will tell them sometimes that I am making these cookies and then other times I surprise them. I teach in a school where most of the children receive very little encouragement at home to do school work. For some reason making these cookies for them- which is not difficult- seems to work.
