I have currently used Rocket math, and have been told by a current math specialist that the kids produce a chemical in their brain when put under pressure of being timed on these. It then takes 3 hours for the chemical to go away and that there is no knowledge gained after this happens to them. I asked my class if they feel anxious before these math quizzes, and they all said yes. They get a hair raising feeling or stomach ache, so I've decided to not do these anymore. I am currently trying to find a new approach to learning these.
I hope this doesn't offend anyone, but I thought it was an interesting bit of info.
