Lit circles and Homework By chris/4/PA
|
| I just started Lit circles this year. At the beginning of the year, we read short books and I taught the roles to everyone. We then rotated the roles, again, all reading the same book. When they were ready to move to independent books/circles, I let them read in class the first day. they then assigned how many pages the group was to read for homework (I put a minimum of 10 pages, but most groups picked more). Those who didn't do it, read during recess to catch up and we had a discussion about how their partners might feel about them not keeping up their end of the bargain. Most of the students stayed on track. Good luck! I'll definately do REading Circles again.
