Some facts about the shot. You cannot get sick from the shot. However it takes about 2 weeks for the shot to be at full strength. So if you were exposed to germs the week you got the shot you can still get the flu during that time. The shot does not protect you from all flus. What they do each year is determine the 3 most likely strains of flu and that is what the shot protects you from. So you can still get the flu if it is one of the strains that is not part of the shot. You cannot have the shot if you are allergic to eggs.
