Silent Reading and packing up

Hi! I have my silent reading after our block of lunch/recess/special each day to settle the kids back down for the afternoon. As far as pack up goes, I set a timer for 5 minutes. I then call each of the four teams as I see them ready (sometimes I will call individuals instead). No matter what team they are on or when they are called, they have to be ready by the time the timer goes off. If there are students who are not ready I watch the clock timing how long it does take them and that time is taken off of the class recess the next day. Oh, by the way, once the students are packed up they put their backpacks and coats on their desks and go back to sit on the back carpet waiting for me to read aloud. I hop this was helpful!
