pencil sharpening hours

Like the above post, I too, have "pencil sharpening hours". They should have two sharp pencils at all times or they have to wait until the pencil sharpener is "open". The hours are posted and if they need a pencil during closed hours, they usually figure it out (a friend, pencil can, they bring in their own hand-held sharpener from home). It's amazing, I wish I would have thought of this 5 years ago. We have two "open" times per day.
As for bathroom breaks, we leave our class a few minutes before our daily special area class and this is their time "to go" in the morning. It also has really cut back on them asking the special area teacher because their time is so limited in special area classes. We then take a 2 minute bathroom break about 45 minutes after lunch because they all seem to need one at this time. This has worked for me with a few occasional emergencies. Good luck.
