First of all, that would be tough with the different skills and requirements for the range of grades!! Is the cirriculum pretty similar for you, or are you expected to be teaching completely different lessons to each grade level? When I taught 3/4 we alternated third grade cirriculum one year, 4th the next...I can't imagine throwing another grade into the mix! :o)

I've always taught about 45-60 minutes of Social STudies, science, or health a day. I taught social studies and science together alot of times. For instnace, we are studying Native Americans of our state (3rd gr. s.s.) Often times I'd just skim the main ideas from the text and have the kids take notes (with me modeling of course)...we'd work on organization (a writing skill). Afterwards, they might write a paragraph about what we'd discussed, or discuss it with me, or respond orally to certain questions. For science we'd make paints from natural materials, learn how weather affected the different tribes, etc.

    I hope this helps!
