Home : 2004 : Apr : 11
Tennessee, at least the county I live in, has to tell us (in writing) by April 15th. At that time we are given the option of resigning. If we don't sign the letter then we won't be eligible to be hired for 3 years. I thought this was in our county only but a friend of mine didn't sign the letter so was laid-off and took the unemployment (she had worked here for about 4 years) and now the surrounding counties won't even take an app from here. I have had excellent reviews so when I went for my summative I was pretty sure I would be hired back for next year but found out that even though I have done an admirable job (excellent according to the dictionary) I would be better suited to the lower grades. I asked if this meant I would be pink-slipped and then have to apply again and was told that I had been warned of this early in the year. Hmmmm. Don't remember that. So, I guess I will be getting the notice by the end of next week. I have shed my tears and am ready to move on. I have also been sending out resumes to the surrounding counties. Good luck and I hope they keep you. Sure wish I knew what I was doing next year.
