    Country Projects
    By Illini Teacher

I just did one of these with my students. First you have to ask yourself how involved you want this to be. How much in class and out of class work will you expect? Do you want it to be long term or short term? Secondly, how will you grade this? I had our library pull a cart of books for me to use in my room for this. Also, the CIA has a part of their website called the Factbook. It has information on every country in the world.

We did our projects on the countries of South and Southeast Asia. Our "choice" of countries was random. They picked a number, it corresponded with a country. That way I didn't choose and I also didn't have 25 kids doing India and no one choosing poor little Brunei!

My project was done all in class. The students made a book for each of the 4 systems in Social Studies.
The first page was their country name and flag.
    Second page: Political System
    Third: Economic System
    Fourth: Social System
    Fifth: Geographic System

I looked at ll of the things I wanted them to know and came up with 3 to 4 questions they were to answer per page. For example, What kind of government does your country have now? What landforms are in your country.

The students researched the information and created an information page for each system. I checked each page as they were done.

Please email me if you have any other questions!

Hopefully this helps you get started.
