I have seen an increase in motivation - moving up the alphabetized letters is more of a motivation than just knowing that they need to learn their facts. I have seen an increase in parental involvement and realization of their child's progress - I have the students complete any problems that they did not finish during the one-minute timing in addition to their homework each night. I do the 80 problem two minute timing each Friday and they take that home and finish it also. I give them money to spend at the class store if they bring it back on Monday completed. Lately I have been doing a back-to-back paper with one side with the addition two minute timing and one side the subtraction two minute timing on Fridays. They finish this on the weekends! For some of them this is more than 80 problems that they do over the weekend. The parents are very supportive. I have seen an increase in the number of my students who have memorized facts. Those that don't have them memorized have at least gotten quicker at whatever process they use to figure them out (counting on/back in their head/touchpoints, etc). One of the other second grade teachers said that my class by far knows their facts and can state them quicker than her class. Also, having the program has made me stay more focused. I ALWAYS give the students time to study math facts in class and ALWAYS have that timing (the kids don't let you forget). It helps to have them see the problems, say them, and solve them each day.
