I am BESIDE myself - HELP ME By Kim

I am a NEW teacher . .I came on mid yeart to replace a teacher fired. There are 4 kinder teacher on my floor. My neighbor is on maternity leave and of course they hired a sub.

This woman is UNBELIEVABLE. FOr one, she called the teacher she was replacing to tell her her room was not set up well and SHE took it upon herself to rearrange it. She also advised this NEW FIRST time mother, her studetns are "Horrible".

Well the other day, I witnessed this sub GRAB and abruptly pull a student up by his arm. In all honesty I did not expect to EVER see her again, but alas, she is still there.

Today, durring my class's nap time, this sub throws open my dorr to advise me (and my entire class) one of my studetns caused a problem. I advised her NICLY we would have to discuss this in the hall as my class was TRYING to sleep.

I bent down to the child's eye level and asked hm what happened. He could not take his eyes off this OVERBEARING woman TOWERING over him. I then told him to come inside the classroom with me and he and I would discuss it. With that, this sub SHOUTS out to this child, "Now don't LIE I have 5 studetns who saw you" and she walks off.

I took the boy in and he sat on my lap and we talked about lying and the truth (we are a Catholic school). I advised him that if e ied he would be in a lot of trouble and if he could be brave enough tot tell the truth this all would be over. FINALLY he did confess he was goofing off in the bathroom and he did turn off the lights. I thanked and praised him for his honesty, and he took a nap.

I then wrote a note to this sub. I ran this note by two other teachers to make sure I was NOT VINDECTIVE. THey assured me I was not. I asked her not to open my door and shart reremanding my students durring nap time.

I also told her that I realized that we are all different teachers and we all have differnt styles but in the future if there was a problem with one of my students to please bring it to my attention and allow me to handle it as I have found compassion go a long way with my kids.

After school I was conversing with a fellow Kinder teacher and the sub walks in. SHe towers over me and askes the other teacher to leave. I said NO - and asked her what was on her mind. THis woman laid into me and tore me a new one. She was rude, insulting, and demeaning. I sat there and took it. It seemed like it would never end. I then told her I had to be ot of the school in 5 minutes and the conversation had to end. I went to my OTHER peer teacher and we discussed it. Later as we were leaving, about 15 minutes later, UNFORTUNATLY I ran into the sub again, and again she laid into me in the parking lot. SHe started in with this mocking and condesending tone saying "Oh yea, 5 minutes huh?" I then said, this is none of your business have a nice nite. and she snaped back, your sarcasam is not appreciated.

I am not sure I can go back tomorrow. I am STILL shaking over this . . . I guess it is not a huge deal, but it has seemingly struck a nerve with me.

I have NO IDEA how to handle this - OH, I did copy my principal on the note, so he will know what I said, and I obviously made sure I had witnesses.

Does anyone have any useful advise??? I sure need it . . .
