This is only my 2nd year going in to 6th. I've read The Giver, sorta sticky issues in this one. However, my students absolutely loved the novel "Holes". The author keeps the students engulfed in it because he writes in and out of the main character's life (Stanley) and his No good dirty rotten pig stealing great great grandfather's life. It truly kept my students in it. Happy reading. PS. I was assigned an all girl's 12-13 year old class. Any suggestions for girl's novels?
