word wall

Hi,
I also teach a 1-2 combo class. This is my 2nd year. Last year I had 2 seperate word walls and gave two different tests for each grade. It is more work to do this, but I couldn't find any other way around it especially in the beginning of the year. As the year goes on and the 1st graders get more proficient in reading and writing it gets easier, then you can do more with the word wall together. By the end of the year last year both grades knew all the words on both word walls.
