songs to teach reading

Go to www.drjean.org and look through her site for great songs (I think all of the words are online.) www.crystalsprings.com has several book and tape sets by Dr. Jean called (I think) Teachin' Tunes and there are reproducible (sp?) mini song books that the kids love on words families and initial consonant sounds. The CD to invest in would be Sing to Learn with Dr. Jean. Also check out www.canteach.com for their language arts songs and poems. I usually sing the song until the kids know it, then use it in a pocket chart and finally paste a copy into our poetry books.
