    time

A couple of things come to mind: you could explain that to the parent, there is a difference between needing more time and using time in the most appropriate way. If the child really needed more time, you would go through your school services to allow the child to go on a 504 plan. However, this sounds more like a case of the child not using his time well. I would take the responsibility approach that the child must learn, his grades are a reflection of what he does in school. If effort is not there, no one deserves an A. Then, I would come up with some ideas to show you are helping. Put a timer on his desk, give him a sheet that he fills out at the end of the day showing exactly what was not completed and keep record of it all. I'd also offer to allow the child to come early or stay late after school- and then see what your parent says! Good Luck!
