but it's reality because the two schools(private) I have worked at have encouraged it. I think that if it was over-used you should be able to tell a parent (directly) that to send a written note or leave one on your desk when you won't be interrupted. BELIVE ME! I have to do fend some parents off and out of my room. One parent is always having to tell me something every morning about their child like they are the only one in my class! So give out phone numbers but sparingly if you must. There are parents that may abuse because after all their child is all that matters (to some). Best communication I have found was a parent letter on Fridays (if you are planned ahead for the next week), or send out on Mondays (I do my lessons on the weekend) stapled to lunchboxes/backpacks or sent in folders. Works for me!
