If the latter, what about a theme-related board, one that can change with your topic? For example, I just put up a "Patterning Puzzles" bulletin board for my fourth grade class- several colourful visual puzzles (from a calendar) and other puzzles; if they can submit three correct answers, they win a prize.

Good luck... we have a teacher at my school from Australia (who spent most of her teaching career there) and she really misses it! Would you recommend it as a place to teach?
