    Well...I think you stated your reasoning pretty well in your post, but I understand wanting to get your 'ducks in a row' also!

    Do you have a copy of your districts/state cirriculum? We each have a copy that we have re-written to coorelate with our school. We are required to write state standards with ALL of our lessons, so I'd just use those.

    If you don't have immediate access to your standards, I think I'd submit a written explanation stating why you want to show the movie (teaching compare and contrast), as well as the fact that your class is currently reading the book, and what ever project you will have your kids do after they see the movie.

    Hope this makes sense....my kids just started screaming!!!
