I wish I could travel back in time 50 years to see what a teacher's job was like compared to now. How do some teachers last for 30 years in the classroom? I am in my 2nd year- I have an amazing class this year (5th grade) and I really do enjoy myself, but everyone says how lucky I am, it'll never happen again, etc.., etc... and I know from last year that a bad year can just about drain you. Even with this awesome group (and only 24!) I am never done without 12 hours of work each day.I think the school district and school admin DO make a huge difference. This year, I'm in a lower-middle class area with not too many ESL, in a K-6 school, and with a great principal. So things run more smoothly. The kids are not spoiled and they eat up whatever you do. I don't know if there's a solution for teacher stress????
