| maybe you need to really put a lot of focus on those who are doing what you ask. They often look for attention and neg. is just as good as positive. Look for ways to reward them like going to centers early or outside if you have volunteers to help the other staff whenever you see them do even a small thing correctly. This process takes time. Find times when you can praise even if it only is that they ate all their peas! I teach 3,4 and 5's, too in Head Start. I find that they need the extra time but it needs to be for correct behavior not the bad. We use re-direction not time out. When someone is hurt we focus on the child hurt not the child that did the hurting at first then we talk as a group about it. Make the other children part of the process and take the fun out of it for the 2 that do not listen. The others will will learn as much as the troubled children.
