You might try having your students research India on the internet. You could provide a worksheet of information that you wish them to find. www.lonelyplanet.com is a good place to start. For a project, they could design a trifold brochure using Word's template for a brochure or create a Hyperstudio or Powerpoint presentation on India. You might want to set a target audience for the presentation such as for a travel agency or a conference on world population. If you set the criteria before you begin the project and even produce a model then you should get some good results. This could even be done collaboratively with a technology class if your students have one.
