Our school uses the same system as Gail's..cups on top of the monitor if you need help...but our cups are red so they are easy to see. I teach my own K's in computer lab, and for the past several years, I basically used Kidpix. In our school, we don't just have computer lab to use computers, but to help implement the curriculum. Each week, we will learn to use another tool on the toolbar to help us do our activity for the day. For example, when we are learning about habitats, the children create habitats for animals in Kidpix...underwater or forest...making sure that the habitat has food, water, and a place for the babies. We use the bucket, shape tools, graphics, and the paint brush. We have also created an American flag with the line tools and paint bucket, and star graphics. We have patterned with the sticker pickers, created graphic organizers, etc. These are just a few examples.

There are sites that have examples of kidpix projects listed by grade level. One site, I remember had the children trace around their hand, placed on the monitor, with the drawing tool. Then, with the paint bucket, color it in to resemble the ol' handprint turkey.

Perhaps you could talk to the K teacher and find out what she is doing in the classroom, and go from there. I don't know how many children are in the K class, but I always ask for parent volunteers to help. I have also had the 4th graders come in and they take the Ks on the internet to randomhouse.com for seussville, or funbrain.com, etc. for reinforcement games.
