I started with reading a story "As the crow flies" We were on the carpet I showed different maps. I asked them to look at the far bulletin board then they went to their seats to look at it. Different perspectives. They got their pink erasers. I had a Very large sheet of paper and a smaller one. The large paper was the classroom, the smaller one the carpet. We put them in the right place. Then we put the pink erasers on the "map" We were looking it like the crow would. People came up with ideas to represent my desk etc. Then we stood up and looked down. After that they each made a map of 4 things on our desk top. Later we took a map home to make of our bedroom. We will get into directions and school map and then the neighbor hood. Show a globe and a map etc. Once you get going I know the ideas will start. Good luck!
