Depending on the condition of your portable it can be fun being in one. You are a bit more separate from the school and thus a bit more independent. And for some reasons portables seem to allow for very creative decorating. If the portable is dark - why not try stringing up some of those fun outdoor patio lights. They most likely will be on sale now and would add a fun touch especially for grade 3's. If one area is particularly dark, ask your school to purchase a table light for that area - this would work well in a center or reading area. Or one or two spotlights in corners might help too. And although you've lost some momentum - you do have a great start - take as much as you can that you've already done into your new classroom. Spend an hour or two just looking at your room and envisioning a reading corner, how you want your desks, where your desk will best fit. Once you move a bit of the furniture around and have your boxes and materials in the room you'll get back into the momentum. Have fun with your first class
