I am also expecting in December. I don't know how your terms work but my first report cards are due in the middle of November. I will finish them and go on sick leave until the birth. I have many sick days accumulated and I am sure my doctor will give me a note. Our contract lets us go on sick leave ( pregnancy) before the birth. I will not have to use up my maternity in Ontario we get one year at 55%of our salary. I told the kids as soon as I found out. I think everyone in the school knows. I was very excited, we had been trying a long time. My kids last year , went through it with me, I was on fertility pills and waited every month for a positive result. They saw some tears when the results were negative and the joy when I told them we were having a baby. I don't see a problem telling them. As for when to go off work.I didn't want to start new units in December and I thought the supply teacher would prefer starting fresh a new term. I am planning on going back in September to start the year. I could not see myself working until the last minute, always worrying if my day book was done and the supply would be able to take over. When I go into labour all I want to worry about is my new baby not my kids at school so I chose not to work until the last minute. Hope it helps.!
