    I usually begin wtih a theme and run it for a week or two. This year I'll do teddy bears. You can read a bear story like Cordory or Ira Sleeps Over. Then find a book that has some patterns (any school store) and they can make bears, have a teddy bear picnic (read the book, It's great), make clothes for Cordory, etc.

    I've also done The Hungry Caterpiller. They can retell the story and paint it (I do it in groups of 3, make butterflies, etc. Just f un stuff but covers many academic areas.
