Laurie, I hope you don't get a teacher's manual and curriculum outline. The curriculum should really come from the kids. After knowing the kids, what they need who they are, you will be better prepared to create a curriculum with the kiddos. Ask to come in and observe before you officially start. Get to the kids. Set up play centers based on the interests and the development of the kids. Make sure you a housekeeping and block area. Those are probably the most important, use about one third of your play space for those areas. Create an art area, music, science, manipulatives, and reading/publishing area to begin with. How you will adapt these centers and what exactly will be in them will change according to the children's needs in your class. Good luck and wish you well in your position.
