I've tried the place value charts and even had one on the wall and one on the overhead at all times. We have not gotten very far so I don't think it would affect them to stop and do fractions instead. I think this is what I'm going to do. I am going to do the relating to money thing though. Many people gave me this advice also. Someone also suggested starting with the fraction basics and once they learn how to convert from fractions to decimals, that usually clears up the problem. I've gotten some good advice from you and the other site. Thanks so much. It is very appreciated.
