I set aside 20 min every Monday to preview centers with my students. I teach 1st grade and each week we have 10 new centers. For the preveiw, I go to each center and show my students what they will be doing. Of course at each center there are directions as well. For my ADD and AdHD students they come in to my class 10 min early and I preview with them ahead of the class. This way they are being introduced to each center twice. I also stay consistent with my centers and will keep them the same format for the first three weeks before I start changing them to different ideas. Pocket charts are a great asset to help create centers. My students rotate to 2 centers each day. They have a center folder to keep their work in as well as a center contract that they use to keep track of where they have been. Once they have visited a center they use a date stamper to stamp that center on there sheet. I also use my students as center helpers. The make sure the date gets changed on the stamper, help set the timer, make sure paper, supplies are at the centers, etc. Sara
