I guess it depends upon the maturity level of your children. My kids last year were 11 going on 21, so it didn't faze them at all. They really liked the book, and nobody made an issue out of the bath scene. The only thing I didn't really like about the book was the ending. The book seemed to stress throughout its pages that children of all races should try to get along. However, the ending sort of withers in this aspect.
