I'd call a meeting of all personel involved with this boy and jointly come up with a plan for the child to become more successful in school and a plan of action when he melts down. and then you all need to try it for at least 15 school days to see if it is successful or if you need to meet again and revise. It would be nice if mom would be more supportive....It sounds like medication plays a part here or lack of medication. I guess I'd want to talk to mom and see why she removed him from meds. I also believe this boy needs a behavior plan written. The IEP has expired?????? or not? Who has been following the IEP with no special ed person in the school? Is your school in contact with the Intermediate school district in your county? Does your state operate that way, we do so that's why I'm asking....but they may have someone you can consult....maybe not but it sounds like this boy needs a more restrictive placement and since you have a limited special ed department it should'nt be your school. Maybe your leader needs to think about that because it sounds like your school can't really meet all this child's needs. I believe he would need more than a part time placement with such severe behavior problems. I'm just throwing out things here for you to think about....hopefully some will help
