Julie, I think that we all went into teaching because we have patience with children and I think that sometimes teachers can act more like children. I know that it is hard at times to deal with adults who seem incompetent or irresponsible, but guess what it will never go away. You are right that an administrator needs to be a team player if they are expected to have things accomplished. Maybe this teacher of yours is feeling a little too cocky towards the idea of him being a future administrator. Believe me it sounds like he will learn the hard way. I am a teacher myself who works with many adults in many situations during any given day and one way that works with them is to make it seem like it was their idea to begin with. Some things that also work are: letting them know that there is something in it for them, when setting deadlines push it one week ahead so when they turn it in one week later- it is really on time and you don't get stressed, just let it all run off your shoulder since you are not their teacher and you are definitely not their mother! I hope that things get better for you!
