Judy, I have two different activities.

The first one is for social studies. As an introduction, divide the students into cooperative groups of 4 - 5 per group & give each group a copy of the sports teams list and a US map. Ask each group to find the map location of each sports team and create an emblem from construction paper based on the team's logo and paste the emblem on the map location of the sports team. Major Instruction Sequence: have groups use encyclopedias to write five facts about each city on an index card. Paste the index cards next to the emblems on the US map. Each group discusses if and how the team's logo relates to the location of the team (Denver Broncos--broncos relate to the western US: New Orleans Saints--famous New Orleans song, "When the Saints go Marching In"). Evaluation: each group Shows map with logos and share facts on index cards. Each group tells what they decided about if and how the team's logo relates to the team's location.

The second one is for math. Have a list of the different Super Bowl teams & scores since 1967 (You can get the scores from www.Superbowl.com). Here are some questions that you can ask as they view the list … 1) Which 3 teams won the most Super Bowls? 2) Which of those teams scored the most total points in their Super Bowl wins? 3) Which 3 teams lost the most Super Bowls? 4) Which of those teams scored the fewest points in the Super Bowl? 5) In what year was the highest-scoring Super Bowl game played? (Count points scored by the winner and the loser.). 6) In what year was the lowest-scoring game played? 7) How many more points were scored in the highest-scoring game than in the lowest scoring game? 8) Which team scored the most total points in Super Bowl games?

    I hope this helps!
