I have been in schools that have done it both ways, and I must say, when the teacher changes rooms there seems to be much less confusing and wasted time. This is the way it is done in the school I'm in now. Each teacher has a cart they push from one room to the next with any materials they need for their subjects. This takes place in my hallway (I'm a Title I teacher) and we are never disturbed by the noise of kids in the halls (that had been a real problem in my last school).
The teachers seem to like this way a lot. Hope this helps and good luck!
