    HI
I'd sit this gal down and have a heart to heart talk with her. I'd start by saying something like since she is a college student you're wondering what she expects to learn in your class this year. I'd ask her what part of her job she is having particular difficulty with because you've been noticing that she hasn't been completing the tasks you've left her to do. I'd review her hours IN your class and when it's ok to take breaks. I'd also ask her if she expects a letter of recommendation from you because if she is you'd like to take notes so you can be very specific in your recommendations. I'd say that I'll be taking documenting your performance so that I can really be accurate with your recommendations. I'd suggest to my aide that we'll meet again in 2 weeks to see how thinks are going. I wouldn't criticise at this meeting but if the bad performance keeps up I'd document everthing and at the 2 week meeting I'd pull out my notes and say this is what I've been observing. About the internet...I'd simply tell her the computer is hers to use at her break time and no other unless you specifically request she search for something. Same goes for text books from college.

At my school I write my aides evaluations....do you? I'd be sure she understands that you do them if you do....GOOD LUCK
